Guided Tours
Voyageur Days [9VD]
Return to the days when the canoe was the source of transportation
that settled our country. This historic paddle in a reproduction
10-passenger voyageur canoe starts off in the mouth of the
Saugeen River and travels upstream to the site of the Saugeen
First Nations Amphitheater. Our knowledgeable interpretive
guides discuss fascinating local history. Learn the history,
strokes and maneuvers of traveling in a voyageur canoe to prepare
your group to explore the open waters of Lake Huron. After
a delicious shore lunch on one of Southampton’s fine
beaches, our group will paddle out to Chantry Island and attempt
to circumnavigate it for a unique view of the Westerly side
before returning to the river to wrap up this rare experience.
